EP 53: How to make ChatGPT work for you

Podcasts on April 17, 2023

Has ChatGPT made copywriters redundant? Far from it, according to Greg Baker, a lecturer in Artificial Intelligence and Computational Linguistics at Macquarie University.

Greg, more than most, has his finger on the pulse on not just where ChatGPT is heading but how it actually works! He has spent his life researching natural language processing and has a deep knowledge of what these tools can do and more importantly, how we copywriters and creative folk can harness them to our advantage.

In this podcast, you’ll learn:

  • Why copywriters, above all other creatives, are well placed to become the top beneficiaries of what ChatGPT offers
  • How to use the right prompts to help the AI write your copy for you
  • How to manage the word count (or ‘token’) limits so you don’t get ‘sorry, too long’ as part of your answer
  • The four step WAVE model (Workflow; Adjacencies; Volume; Entrepreneurship) as a a guide for where this technology (and copywriting) is headed
  • Why entrepreneurship is going to be the defining quality that separates creatives into the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’.
  • How to tell if a piece of copy has been written by Ai
  • How to use the tool to write code so that copywriters can complete large-scale copywriting projects quickly and easily
  • How to use AI to make yourself indispensable to a client
  • How to identify who the real author of any work really is
  • What copywriters and coding programmers have in common
  • Why the paid product is or isn’t worth paying for
  • How to use ChatGPT to conduct A/B testing
  • Why ChatGPT can test what ‘version’ of the English language works best on each audience e.g. Romance English vs Germanic English
  • How to use ChatGPT to create your training course materials
  • What the life of a copywriter will look like from 2023 and beyond
  • How to “automate” snippets of your copywriting work
  • How to become a mini-marketing agency (and become infinitely more valuable to clients)
  • How to generate a beautiful website that’ll attract clients on auto-pilot with ChatGPT’s “window”
  • How to avoid the blank page syndrome
  • Why copywriters will actually become “copyreaders” in the future
  • How to double, triple, or even quadruple the rates you charge clients by making your business “disruptive”
